
The Gairloch area has many excellent trout lochs but it is also fortunate in having landowners who not only protect and conserve this beautiful and unique part of Scotland but are also enthusiastic in their support for local angling clubs, hotels and shops which control the permits for the estate lochs.
ANCHORAGE FISHERIES
The Anchorage offers fishing on a select group of lochs leased from the Gairloch Estate. The lochs offer good quality fishing in a variety of settings with accessibility, varying from roadside convenience to remote wilderness fishing with bothy accommodation. Hill lochs offering excellent boat fishing in scenic surroundings accessed by short walks are: Loch na Curra, Loch Bad a Chreamh & Loch Skerr. Loch Tolliaidh (Toille) offers convenient roadside access for both bank and boat fishing.
Anglers who wish to sample remote fly fishing amid majestic scenery, staying overnight in bothy accommodation with the use of boat and outboard, can try Loch na h-Oidche and the Gorm Lochs which enjoy a wilderness setting amid the Torridon Mountains. Loch na h-Oidche, Gorm loch Fada and Gorm Loch na Beinne. Boat fishing can also be arranged on Loch Maree. An argocat with driver may be available to assist with access to lochs. Sea fishing trips can also be booked from June to September. Permits, tackle, flies and advise on where to fish locally are obtainable from The Anchorage, Pier Road, Gairloch.

GAIRLOCH ANGLING CLUB FISHERIES |
Gairloch Angling Club offers trout fishing on a range of lochs and lochans in the area, these include: Fionn Loch, Loch Bad an Sgalaig, Am Feur Loch, Loch Tollaidh, Lochan nam Breac, Loch Boor, Loch Feur, Loch Coire na h-Airigh and Loch Garbhaig.
The following lochs lie in the hills to the east of the village and can be fished from the bank on a single day permit. These are Loch Airigh Mhic Criadh, Loch Clair, Loch an t-Sabhail-mhoine, Loch Airigh a’ Phuill, Loch nam Buainichean, Loch Dhu na beiste, Loch na Feithe Mugaig and Loch Doire na h-Airighe.
Salmon fishing is available on the River Kerry and sea trout fishing on Loch Sguod.
There are boats on some of the lochs but visiting anglers cannot normally book them more than a few days in advance. Precise booking conditions can be determined from the club secretary or from K Gunn, Newsagent, Strath, Gairloch and from the Wild Cat Stores, Gairloch.
