started with high pressure dominating the first couple of weeks.
Bright sunshine and variable winds did not help the fishing either.
Ruthven Fly-Fishers held their first competition of the season on
the 6th and fish were had by all, winning angler on the day was
Davie Stewart with a nice fish of 1Ib 4oz on a Black Cat muddler.
Bright conditions meant DI3's and deeper were the order of the day.
A week later Jamie Robertson and Gerry MacDonald also had an
excellent day with both boating and returning over 20 fish up to 1Ib,
top flies for the day were mini lures such as Black and white cats, also Hot Coral and doobry muddler. The middle of the month saw strong cold northerly winds with very few boats venturing out. On the 24th Inverness angler David Wade fishing out of the ness angling club boat battled for the day against strong north westerly winds but took some lovely marked trout from both sides of the narrows close to the shore.
